About This Archived Web Pages

The Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM) was among the many projects at the Max Planck Institute for extraterrestrial Physics dealing with the investigation of Gamma-Rays coming from space. The MPE was the leading research organization on gamma rays in Germany and the world between about 1970 and 2000 (see Schönfelder and Greiner, Eur. Phys. J.H.(2021)46:27)).
The GBM was one of the main projects of the high-energy astrophysics group at MPE during the 2000 decade. The NASA Fermi Gamma-Ray satellite, launched in 2008 and still active in 2022 included the GBM to detect and investigate gamma-ray bursts.

Support of the Gamma-ray Astrophysics group at MPE ceased after 2010 and finally only one scientist is still continuing observing and analyzing Gamma-Ray burst data from GBM in close collaboration with colleagues from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

Unfortunately there is very little interest at MPE to archive documents and information on projects where the MPE is no longer interested but which are still maintained on a very low level.
Especially the large collection of GBM documentation and the record of activities during the project available once on the project's web pages has been discontinued and only a one page summary is available on the MPE web pages of the high-energy astrophysics group.

As I (HS) was involved in the GBM activities at MPE almost from the beginning in 2000 as a member of the GBM team, and as the webmaster of the whole MPE I was also taking care of the GBM web pages, I saved the GBM web pages as of 2012 (about 3 years after launch) when a major revision of the MPW web-pages was done. From then on until 2019 only few more entries were made in the GBM news part which now are only availabe through the Internet-Archiv of the "WAYBACKMACHINE".
Here I provide access to the 2012 set of information on my private web pages hoping to keep this information available to interested visitors in the future.

No data or any other kind of information on the visitors of the pages are beeing recorded by me.
